Elizabeth Poole and Lindsey Braune are joint directors of The Cotswold Auction Company. Elizabeth trained in Fine Arts Valuation at Southampton Institute and qualified in 1988. Lindsey read modern languages at St Annes College, Oxford University, before training with Capes Dunn and Co in Manchester and qualifying as a Chartered Art and Antiques Surveyor with the RICS in 1984. Elizabeth and Lindsey ran Hobbs & Chambers auction business from the mid 1980s until 1998, purchasing the business and forming The Cotswold Auction Company in August 1998.
Consultant Bob Short, also a Fellow of the RICS, has a wealth of experience and has been practising in Gloucester for over 45 years. He is a well known local professional who ran sales in his own practice since the 1970s.
Fraser Glennie, Fine Arts Consultant has conducted auctions in and around Cirencester for over 20 years. He joined the The Cotswold Auction Company as a consultant in December 2003 and continues to practice as a property surveyor from Cirencester.Fraser is now working as a Surveyor for Connells Survey & Valuation Ltd handling Property Valuations and Surveys in Wiltshire and Gloucestershire.
Henry Meadows has recently joined the company as saleroom manager. Henry has come from the medals and militaria department of Spink and Sons, London, and has worked for Dreweatts 1759 in the Bristol and Donnington salerooms. He is a Chartered Arts and Antiques Surveyor and is currently using his expertise to establish a specialist Medals and Militaria department unrivalled in South West England.
Jenny Low has been with the company for 5 years, having previously worked in the books department of Sotheby's Johannesburg. Jenny values and catalogues the specialist book sales, dealing with library collections and private clients alike. She is based at the Cheltenham office where she is responsible for day to day enquiries, and press relations.
The Office Manager in Cirencester is Trudi Forrest who has been with the company for five years. Trudi is responsible for the administration before and after sales, and deals with enquiries and valuations. She has a keen interest in and knowledge of twentieth century ceramics.
Pictured below are just some of our experienced and helpful saleroom porters. They assist in setting up the sale and keeping the lots secure on viewing day. On sale day they have their work cut out, showing up to 1000 lots as they are sold and handing them out to purchasers.
