The Cotswold Auction company has played host to Cash in the Attic with presenter Aled Jones and David Dickinson with his 'Real Deal' team this year . We are welcoming back David Dickinson again on September 1st! The 'Cash in the Attic' programme has been broadcast and as ever brought new interest and clients to the Company. It also brings odd looks at petrol stations when members of the staff might be filling their cars! It can be seen that someone is wondering where they might have seen them before and should they say hello! All are welcome at the salerooms so do come and watch David at work at the Chapel Walk Saleroom, Cheltenham on Wednesday 1st September.
Beaufort Polo: This year on June 19th and 20th, we were at The Beaufort Polo Country Fair . It was a superb weekend weather wise and on Saturday a Test Match between the England Polo team and the Americas took place , with the Americas winning - lets not hope that is prescient! Many people showed interest in the idea of auctioning items and coming to buy. www.beaufortpoloclub.co.uk.
Auction Masterclass - Tuesday December 14th 2010
Tuesday 15th December 2009 saw the third Auction Masterclass to be held at the Chapel Walk Saleroom,Cheltenham. The first Masterclass was held two years ago in aid of BBC tv's 'Children in Need'The 'Masterclass' explored all aspects of the workings of an auction, how to buy and sell, allowed a private view of the Christmas Sale, with talks on selected items of the treasures on offer, with tips on identification - antique furniture, objets de vertu, silver, jewellery and watches. Attendees even tried their hand on the auctioneer's rostrum in a mock auction, while a 'mini' Antiques Roadshow was given on items brought in by participants. One of the items that caught everyone's imagination was a somewhat elderly teddy bear. He was given a splendid auction estimate £200-£400! But it is unlikely he will leave his home.
The participants this year were very proactive which made the day more interesting than ever - if having some effect on the time table! Which is just what Lindsey and Elizabeth want. Henry Meadows talked about war medals which is his passion. It is likely that many of the guests went home to look up their fathers' and grandfathers' military history as the giving of medals to our war heroes is worth knowing about - especially in these current times.
It proved to be a very happy and successful day for all concerned (all profits to Children in Need) and Lindsey Braune and Elizabeth Poole look forward to 'the class of '2010' to take place on Dec 14th. Contact Jenny Low on 01242 256 363 for tickets at £35.00 each, inclusive of V.A.T. to include morning coffee, buffet lunch and afternoon tea.
