Raising money for BBC Children in Need
By popular request Elizabeth Poole and Lindsay Braune, Directors of the Cotswold Auction Company and sponsors of the de Ferrieres lecture at the Cheltenham Art Gallery, are holding another Christmas Charity event in Cheltenham. The Auction Masterclass in aid of BBC Children in Need . explores all aspects of the workings of an auction, how to buy and sell, a private view, and talks on selected items in the December sale of antique furniture, silver, jewellery and watches.
Last year's attendees were fascinated by tips on dating and identifying Georgian silver, the valuation of diamond rings and important features to be noted on a George III satinwood Pembroke table. A few brave souls were delighted to try their hand on the auctioneer's rostrum in a mock auction, while a 'mini' antiques roadshow was given on items brought in by participants. Lunch is provided together with coffee on arrival and tea in the afternoon. The day starts from 10.30am and finishes at around 3.30pm.
