Liz Poole and Lindsey Braune, directors of The Cotswold Auction Company are delighted to announce that after several decades of holding auctions at The Bingham Hall in Cirencester the company has now moved to a brand-new saleroom on the Love Lane industrial estate. “The Bingham Hall is one of the most distinguished and best-known buildings in Cirencester” said Lindsey “and we shall be sad to leave after all these years. But the benefits of having a permanent base for the office, storage and saleroom can’t be outweighed!”
With plentiful parking, easy access and over 8000 ft.² the auctioneers will now be able to offer an improved service for both buyers and sellers – for example auction days will switch from Friday to Tuesday, allowing extra Saturday morning viewing before the sale, often appreciated by those who can’t visit during the week. “And live online bidding for specialist sales is our hallmark,” says Liz “so this move means that our catalogues will be available online at least two weeks before the date of sale.”
Free auction valuation mornings will be held in Cirencester on Mondays from 10am to 2pm. No appointment is necessary – just turn up!
The Cirencester Bankside saleroom continues to offer large Antiques and Interiors sales, with alternating specialist Silver and Jewellery, Pictures, Toys and Dolls sections. While the Cheltenham Chapel Walk saleroom specialises in Books, Collectables, Medals and Militaria, Vintage Costume and Textiles, 20th Century Decorative Arts.
Some exciting auctions are planned – the first sale to be held on Tuesday 27th September will include Silver, Jewellery and Watches. The second auction on Tuesday 25th October will incorporate a specialist sale of archaeological artifacts from a noted collector of ethnographic and natural history specimines, together with a specialist sale of pictures. “This will be a very exciting auction to run and we’re hoping to make some of our own discoveries in the unpacking!” commented the directors. There will also be an extensive specialist books section, with rare and antiquarian volumes.
The first viewing morning for the inaugural sale will take place at Bankside Saleroom, 2 Wilkinson Road, Love Lane Industrial Estate, Cirencester GL7 1YT, Saturday 24th September 10am to 1pm. For more details about location, please contact us on 01285 642420 or see the Locations page.
