These are the days preceding the sale – a good opportunity for you to examine the lots on offer. Catalogues with estimates of value will be on sale. The catalogue can also be viewed on our website and pages printed as required.


ALL CUSTOMERS ARE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE PHOTOGRAPHIC PROOF OF IDENTITY WHEN REGISTERING We are required by Anti-Money Laundering regulation to see photo ID from all new bidders and sellers (e.g driving licence or passport). Once seen these particulars are deleted.


If you are not viewing the item in person, please ask for condition reports the week before the sale. Extra photographs and any damage can be detailed in a report to you. All lots are sold as seen with or without condition reports. 


You need a bidding number – see the auction office at the saleroom. You will be given a card and the easiest way to make a bid is by waving this bidding number. If you are a novice bidder do not worry – the blink of an eye will not be taken as a bid! The auctioneer will always establish whether a bid is genuine before accepting it. 

If you are unable to attend the sale you can leave a commission bid with the auctioneer who will bid on your behalf, as if you were present in the room.


Once you have registered online through our website, or  you can view and hear the auction as it occurs, watching the auctioneer and viewing photographs of the lots, then simply click to bid – please note varying live-bidding fees for the various online bidding platforms.


Please note that all electrical items have to be safety checked. Any electrical device shown in a photograph may have plugs and wiring removed, in order to comply with current Health and Safety laws. No electrical appliance is guaranteed as working. 


Buyer’s premium of 24% (+VAT) on the hammer price (the price at which the lot is knocked down) is added on every lot. Bidding on different online platforms will have additional charges. 


Payment can be made by bank transfer (preferred) or debit card, and all payment must be received into our account before lots are removed. With regard to payment via online bidding with, please note that if payment is not received within 24 hours of the sale the Auctioneer reserves the right to take payment from the card registered with . We also reserve the right to request payment by bank transfer.

Overseas bidders need to provide card details and security numbers before their bid can be accepted and the same conditions apply regarding payment. Overseas bidders are required to pay by Bank Transfer and to cover bank charges. Please note we only accept debit cards – we do not accept cheques, credit cards or Cash.

For debit transactions where the customer is not present, there is a limit of £300.00

Please arrange collection by Friday of the auction week. If you are unable to collect your lots please contact the office, who will be able to assist you with the transport or storage of furniture and other large items with local removers. Please note that uncollected items will be subject to storage charges from Monday following the sale at £10.00 plus VAT per item per day, as per our terms and conditions.

Collections by couriers/carriers will only be permitted on receipt of written instructions from the registered bidder. Collections by taxi or unconfirmed other parties will be refused.

Items must be collected by the Friday of sale week unless an arrangement is made with the auctioneers. If you are buying larger items we can provide names of removers who will arrange their charges with you personally.
